Freebies will resume...

Hello all... :)

I have a couple of wonderful freebies to add firs thing tomorrow.

I haven't been feeling the best today. For new readers and friends that are still getting to know me, I have a heart condition a) Mitro Valve Prolaspe and b) Sinus Tacticardia. Usually I feel pretty good as long as I get plenty of rest, a decent diet and my medication on time, but I think with all of the recent stress it kinda threw me off.

So I have been really tired the last couple of days and today it settled in pretty darn good. I'm pretty pooped. So, I didn't do much today really but nap off and on and clean the kitchen from the disaster area that occured from making Jam yesterday. lol

And I did make a new template to share with you tomorrow. I doodled around a bit and made some graphics of the Scrap Mall and the WorkShop, they look pretty nifty. ;) And I did catch up on emails. :)

Not a real productive day, but nontheless, well rested.

Tomorrow I will resume my freebie DL's and the goodie bag again. Providing I am not to tuckered out. Off for a good nights rest,

Smiles across the miles,
Rachel

May Contest Ended

Just a quick post that I have closed the May Scrap LO Contest and will be looking over the applications today. I had a few entries this time, and I realize it was just so late in the month to post it.... But... you can begin designing your LO for June, and you can use ANYTHING you downloade my blog, wether its my freebies, Fonts and brushes from my goodie bag or a purchased kit or graphic.

This months stipulation is a little differant, you can only use MY graphics and Papers and no one elses, since this month I will be supplying more papers ... lol *grins*

I also want to extend this Contest to my PSPers as well. :) So, best Scrappy Tag Layout or Scrap LO.... In other words, you don't have to use pictures of your family, but can use pictures of something else, as long as it's legal with the copyright infringment laws. ;)

I will post more later on this months contest and will post publications later on the winner of May's Contest and show off all of the entries. ;)

Hugs,
Rachel

Rachel's Delightful Diabetic Friendly Strawberry Banana Jam

Every year I make Jam to have on our shelves for the year AND to give as sweet homemade gifts for my friends. This year I made Strawberry Pineapple, but I have more friends now that are diabetic or like me and my family watching our diets for our healths sake, so having all of that sugar eleminates so many people from getting my special treat each year.

This year I decided to experiment and make a "Sugar-Free" Jam. The Jam has NO ADDED Sugar, only that which is naturally in the fruit and that is it. I was worried that it would be ok, but not great like the other sweet stuff. But, I was shocked, it turned out AWESOME, and the kids loved it too, so, I may in the future just make the Sugar Free stuff. It's really food and alot easier on the Diet and is Diabetic friendly , if your Dr. oks the fruits used. :)

Here is my Recipe:

1 package Ball No Sugar Needed Fruit Pectin
4 cup combination Chopped Strawberries and Bananas ( Fresh not frozen, it does make a differance in the set).
1 cup Unsweetened, No sugar added Apple Juice
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons Lime Juice
3 Cup Splenda

mash the fruits in your pan over medium heat, but leave chunks, where as jam is suppost to be chunky and pureeing your fruit breaks down the natural pectin, causing the jam not to set properly. Heat to a nice simmer and add the apple juice and Lime Juice. As the fruit and juices simmer on a low boil, wisk in the pectin and continue stiring and cooking on a low rolling boil until the mixture thickens a bit. Slowly wisk in the Splenda a little at a time to prevent lumps and add the butter to prevent foaming and over boiling. Cook the mixture on a low rolling boil until it becomes a nice thick rich texture about 10 minutes. Remove it from the heat and ladel the fruit preserve into clean canning jars. This recipe made 4 8 oz. ball canning jars for me. Allow it to set until firm and cover with parafin wax, making sure all of the fruit is covered properly. Watch for wax shrinkage and top with more wax as needed to insure that the preseves are completely covered leaving none of the fruit explosed. Cover with the lid and some pretty cloth and a piece of twine with a tag and a bow with a little quote or poem to give to friends and family. ;)

Hugs.

FREEBIE : June 2007 Desktop Calander Quick Page

While there has been so much going on here the last couple of days, I have had little time to get on and just work on something new. :(

Today, being the first of the month however, I did find enough time to design this months calander, and I used the "humble bumbles" I already have created and put together a cute little Quick Page for your Desk top. It looks best stretched, and was made to fit my own screen being a flat wide screen.

I do hope you will enjoy it. Here is a Sample of what it looks like with my kiddos pictures in it. :)

UPDATE

Welcome to June everybody! :)

Today is the last day and the final call to download all of the last months freebies, where as I am beginning a new month and all of last months freebies will be disabled. :)

Also, I have updated my TOU. Please read them carefully, even if you are a buyer.

Updates are being made to all of my kits, and the addons and updates , replacements and such will be posted for those who have purchased the kits and the updates, add ons and replacments will automatically be installed and zipped for future downloads. :) These upgrades are being done to better service PSP and PS -PS CS3 users alike.

Please remember, I am a strict Paint Shop Pro user and I do not use Photoshop, where as I personally do not care much for the program, and so I post everything in PNG format, but I will post templates in PSP and PSD format as well because of the high demand of Photoshop users, but, my main goal is make digital scrapbooking easier to do and learn for the greater demand of Paint Shop Pro users by providing them with PSPimage files, PNG, brushes etc, so that being said, and my preferance to use PSP and not convert to PS, means there may be a few differances, but I will do my best to compensate where I can.

I will also be making my templates and papers larger to appease ALL people, so it can be resized smaller easier than it can be resized larger to keep qaulity. So for the future, the files will be larger than they have been in the past. I apologize for the inconvience to those who have enjoyed the faster download because of a smaller file so they wouldnt need to resize to begin with. So in the future, I am switching from 500 x 500 pixels or 3.33 x 3.33 inches to 12 x 12 inches/ 3600 x 3600 pixels with a resolution of 300 ppi ( remaining the same, but may go up to 400 ppi, where as it seems it is 300 ppi on my program and 200 ppi on PS.... not sure how that happens).

Anyhoo, I will be posting today's freebie soon. :)

Hugs to all and hopes for a better today than yesterday was!! :)

Smiles Across the Miles,
Rachel

What do my tax dollars go to?????

I as an American citizen, have paid my taxes from the hard earned time and money that I put into my daily work as an employee, and it's always a pleasure to know that it will be used for good causes in our Country, State and City. HOWEVER it is it extremely unsatisfactory when that hard earned money is also suppost to support our Public Defenders, the local Police Department, the men and women who's duty is to "Serve and Protect" us, but the job requirments ARE NOT BEING MET!

Today, my son and my daughter were riding their bikes on the sidewalk of our residental street in which we live, and a lady backed out of her drive way without looking and knocked my daughter off of her bike. Thankfully my little girl is ok and no serious harm came to her past a bruise, but the woman got out of her car and asked my child if she was ok, felt she was ok according to her standards, re-entered her vehicle and just left without calling asking my children who their mother was, where they could reach me, or even contacting an officer. It is my understanding, that when you are in a collisian with another individual and a motor vehicle is involved, no matter what the damage is, you are required by law to contact the authorities, and failing to do so, is ILLEGAL!

My Children immediately came and told me what had happened. I checked my daughter out to see that she didn't have any serious injuries and questioned both of them on what had happened, and asked them, if the lady in question had asked either of them where they lived or offered to call an officer, to which they both said "No, She said, you scared me, you shouldn't be there! Are you hurt?" My daughter who is 7 years old replied she was ok, and that being satisfactory to the lady, accepted it for face value and drove away without any further responsable action. Once I had gotten the full story from both of my children seperately, I had my children show me where it had taken place, which was two drive ways down from the house we were located at. I then called the police to file a complaint.

Once the officer ( Office Roads) arrived she asked me briefly what was going on, as I explained to her, she cut me off mid sentance and then began questioning my son, and never once spoke to my daughter who was the victum , nor did she request to see if she had any marks or injury what so ever. She then asked where the incident took place and proceeded to the house to speak to the woman who had backed into my child. She returned after a few minutes with the Lady and the lady then bent down to my sons level and began to scold him. The office stood by and allowed this, and I interviened and told the woman not to speak to my child in such a manor, that I was their mother, and she could address me and I wanted to know WHY she had not taken the time to contact me or an officer when she struck my child. She proclaimed she spoke to the kids and felt they were ok and that was enough, to which I informed her that I was their mother and their well being and whether or not she was injured was for me to decide and NOT her. The officer than turned to me and told me that it was my resposability as their mother to watch where they played!

I became very upset because I knew exactly where they were! They were riding their bikes on the side walk, where else is a child suppost to ride a bike? They were not in the lady's drive way or in the street but riding one the sidewalk! It is to my knowlege that when you back out of your drive way you are to watch for pedistrians and children and that Pedistrians have the right of way over any motorvehicle!

I gave my children permission to ride their bike and because a woman who did not watch before she backed out of a private drive way to a public street passing over a public side walk, hit my child, the officer involved turned the issue around to be my fault and not the woman driving the car. When I stated that I am responsable for my children and I do know where they are at all times, and that it is the drivers responsability as a licensed motorist to watch as she backs out for on comming traffic and she was at fault for backing into my daughter and not contacting someone, the officer then changed the subject to " it is state requirment that they wear helmets". YES, it is, but nothing was being discussed over helmets, or whether or not they were wearing a helmet, nor had I or the children been asked if they were wearing helments, needless to say, the issue at hand was that the woman had backed out of her driveway , struck my child with her car and drove off without contacting anyone past my children.

I am very displeased at the nature of investigation and professionalism by the officer on the scene as well as the police department in general for overlooking such an incident. I am very upset at the fact, that the woman saw my daughter to be ok to her satisfactory and not mine. When someone is injured, there may not always be a phsycal mark and the point I was trying to get across was that what if the injury had been more severe and no one realized it, and my daughter, theoretically speaking, had an internal injury and had bleed to the point of death and we did not know about it until it was to late?

I am very upset at the fact that I made this complaint and it was looked upon as not being an issue! I am very upset that the blame was turned onto me by an officer of the law and not the woman who struck my child! I am extremely upset that when I said I wanted to file a complaint she said "I am not filing a report on this". I am upset that the officer made no efforts to begin recording the entire conversation until I became upset that nothing was being handled properly. I am extremely angry that the money we pay through our taxes is suppost to go to our Deptarment to "serve and protect" our community but it doesn't!

Instead of us, as Hobbsains feeling like we have rights as citizens and Americans and we feel protected and served, we feel harassed and controlled by members of our police department. There are so many serious crimes being committed in broad day light and nothing is done about it. But heaven forbid if you walk down the street in your own neighborhood to visit a friend , and an officer stops to ask why you're walking and where are you going, and proceeds to run your name and see in whats in your pockets because as you walked down the side walk you strolled with your hands in your pockets. Heaven forbid, you just cashed your paycheck and when he sees your money wants to know how you got that much cash and if he can see your paycheck stub to prove you didn't get that hard earned money from a drug deal! Yes, this happened to a friend of mine recently.

Instead of making sure a man who raped a woman on sleeping medications stays in jail for more than a week, the investigating officers made the victum feel like the felon by implying she was cheating on her husband and got caught, hense the rapist is out of jail after a week and a trial picking the victum apart over her sleeping medications.

Rather than listening to a mother who is concerned that her daughter is being molested and there fore calls and files a complaint so it is on record, they walk away without a report because their personal judgment is the parents are being vindictive over their divorce.

Instead of taking care of a call where a little kid is shooting plastic b-b's from a hand held b-b gun at another child over the fence, we have officers pulling us over because we passed Ma Brown's and took one to many right turns to circle the block and get back to the resturant. The officer then rights a ticket for making "Turning Manuvers". What is a "Turning Manuver" and how is it illegal to go around the block because you missed your original destination? Yes, this happened to another individual I know.

Instead of investigating and finger printing a car that was stolen so charges could be filed, the car was returned and nothing further was done about it. Thank you for returning my car to me, but it would have been wonderful for the car to have been processed and compared to the suspect we felt was responsable. Instead, nothing was done except the car returned and a name written down in a little note book.

Please explain to me and the rest of Hobbs, New Mexico how this is considered Protecting and Serving our Community?

Instead of pulling a car over who has just sped through a school zone, why are our officers pulling people over who pull into a convienant store, and then pull right back out after they see a sign on the door that says their closed, and in the process asks the passenger who has done no wrong, no more than the driver for exsiting the convienant store due to it being closed committed a crime, who they are and then because of their last name decides to run them through the system to see if they have warrents, just because a member in their family has had a record in the past. Isn't this considered harassment and throwing their weight around behind a badge? Yes, this happened to another person I know.

What ever happened to Innocent until proven guilty? Not Guilty by association!?

I, along with so many residents of Hobbs, are disgusted by the the way our Patrol officers do their jobs. We as a community are fed up with being harassed and pulled over for excuses to find a reason to write a ticket or give us a hard time, when there is plenty of serious business that needs to be handled and isn't.

Across the street where I live, the neighbors openly sit in the front yard in their vehicle and smoke pot, and nothing is ever done about it. My child gets backed into by a car on a public side walk and nothing is done about it! People fight and scream and hit their spouces in their front yards and nothing is done about it. Prostitutes openly walk our streets on Marland and drug deals are made at the City Park in broad day light and nothing is done about it. But make three right turns at designated stop signs to go back to the location you passed by mistake, walk down the street with your hands in your pockets, turn into a convienant store that is closed, or have the same last name as someone with a record and you are made to feel like a convicted felon and forced to pay a fine for "turning manuvers".

So I ask you, what do mine and everyone else's tax dollars go to? Why should I or my family and friends have to pay for this treatment, when we are the citizens that pay the tax money that pays the salary for those officers that spend their time and energy dealing with pointless and frivalous bolonge , when they could be focusing on performing their Duty as a public SERVANT and actually "Protect and Serve" our community, rather than focusing on meeting a quota!

I would like to commend those officers that do a fine job, I know of a few, Officer Engle and Officer Miller, Officer Mendoza have always been very polite and professional as well as a few other good men. But for the most part, all of the other officers I and other members of our community have had the displeasure of encountering over rediculous excuses to be pulled over, or not filing a report on a serious complaint, of meeting and dealing with ; it is of our opinion they are not doing their job to our standards as citizens who pay our taxes to support the lousey excuse of traffic patrole officers in Hobbs, New Mexico!!

I have sat by quietly over the last few years abiding by the laws and observing all of this and so much more than this letter has space for, and I have not said a word. Today I had my fill of the Grade A bull manuer that floods our patrol department of the HPD, when my daughter was backed into by a motor vehiclist and the driver left without contacting someone, and the officer did absolutely nothing about it.

Enough is Enough!

Concerning My Dog Spot Papers

It is brought to my attention that the papers and graphics are not of at least 300 ppi as I thought and said they were. In my program, they are, and the size was never specified as being over 500 x 500 pixels with is 3.33 x 3.33 inches.

So I am currently working on remaking those papers, leaving the ppi at 300.00 on my program and inceasing the size to 12 x 12 to better suit all users.

If there has been a problem with my papers or graphics, I kindly request that you email me and politely let me know and I will fix the problem. I've had all happy scrappers, and would like to remain doing so. :)

Also, I need to note, that I use Paint Shop Pro 9, X and XI to create my graphics, Not Photoshop or any other program, so I can vouche for the differance in qaulity, if there is differance between program to program.

Give me a couple of days to get this taken care of.

Sorry for any inconvience, and it was not intentional false advertising on my part, an honest mistake if that.

Hugs,
Rachel

FREEBIE~ New!! The "Humble Bumbles" Collection by Rachel Hansen

OK! I get excited everytime I do something that I think you guys will love or go nuts over! At least I would go nuts over it, but it's my style, lol!!!

Anyhoo, I was thinking the other day, I don't have anywhere near enough free papers up here, and I needed to make some, but I want them to be unique to Jelly Bean Lane. So I thought about it.... and I got nuffin'! Therefore, I went on and didn't worry about it, the best ideas just appear out of the blue and generally happen by accident, not forced, so oh well.

Yesterday, I was showing Nathan how to use the Pen tool In PSP (Doesn't like Photoshop, refuses to use it. lol BOTH OF US!!lol) and while I was showing him the line line styles and stroke widths, I drew out a butterfly in black. OMG! It was cute, and I had this mental image of what it would look like if one of the kids colored it with Crayons. And so, I got Nathan started on his own project on the other computer and took my PSP back, and I brushed this little butterfly!! I love Brushes! :) Well, I did it again, and this time made it at about 1000 ppi so it has the best qaulity in printing, because I had this fabulous idea that I would make some papers w ith this design AND print them also, to see how it looks on real stationary. ;) THEN... I got another idea.... I made the papers, but it just wasn't right, It needed a buzz line... So I drew a buzz line and I redid the papers and BAM! there it was. But, stationary needs stickers... so I made a set of digital stickers to go with it. Now the drawing was inspsired by a set of Neena's clothes laying over here on the desk. When I was showing nathan the pen tool, I needed an idea to draw, and Neena has this cute little outfit with butterflies on it.

My Kids are my inspiration. lol

So, what I have for your DL today, is a Sample of the First Collection in the "Humble Bumbles" collection. The first set has Butterflies and Flowers, The second is Dragonflies it's all made up too, and the third I am still drawing, has cute little bumble bee's. :) I will add more as I go... little bugs are adorable.

The entite Set of papers is $2.00 plus tax, you can email me directly at my email link by my goodie bag over there to the right, for PAYPAL information, until my shop is open. :)
Wanna see the First Collection? Click the image for a larger more detailed view.

It's what I wanted, unique to jelly bean lane, because it's all hand drawn and painted with Brushes in PSP. The Stickers cut out action thanks to Automic Cupcake, design and everything is all me. :)

The Sampler DL comes with one Humble Bumbles Butterfly Paper and One Sticker.

SHOW 'N TELL~ Hide and Seek 2007

The kids hid from me today and I liked to have never found the little buggers. They found a hiding place I didn't think was pysically possiable. LOL

They were hiding not UNDER THE BABY BED... but... up INSIDE the baby bed.

I wasn't aware that the crib had a large enough space for them to crawl into and hide in behind the drawers beneath it. Well, boy was I shocked when I found them. And it was luck I found them to begin with. I was walking from my bedroom to the living room and I saw feet up under the baby bed... so got down on my hands and knees and quietly crawled up to the bed and peeked under it , grabbed the foot and said "GOT 'CHA!" they squeeled in excitement and said "HOW DID YOU KNOW WE WERE HERE??" lol...

I wouldn't have ever guessed to look there! lol

Here is a Scrap LO I made with all of my papers and a Template I made just for this LO. I will post it to share on the next freebie post plus a Quick Page. ;)

Arn't they great looking kids? lol

This was alot of fun to scrap! :)

SHOW 'N TELL: Neena in her Walker

Since I'm taking a little break today away from all of the mayhem of everyday stuff and I've put my designing aside til tomorrow.... I decided to get caught up on a little scrapping for my Gallery I will have present on my website. :)

I took these pictures of Neena about a month ago when I had put her in her Walker for the first time. She can't sit up by herself so I have a blanket propping her up. She got real excited to be sitting alone and she just squeeled with delight, as you can see in the bottom picture!!
Click the image for a larger more detailed view.

I didn't use any of my own stuff with this LO, other than the pictures of Neena and my bow. lol

I had a blast using Princess Pamela's Paisley Power Template , Papers from Rose.li , a coil paper clip from I don't know where, sorry I don't know where it came from, and the other paper clip from 3scrapateers.com .

Show ' N Tell and Quick Page Freebie

Well , Here is just one scrap I made with the "MY Dog Spot" kit. I have several pictures of Nate and Noodle with their puppies that I'd want to scrap and post...

but for now, I have this one, just to show off a few of the goodies of the kit and put my dad's weenie dog, "Doc" into the spot light a little.

These pictures were taken by Daddy when "Doc" was about 8 weeks old. He is now several months old and is a little big than this and alot stalkier. He's a sweet natured little guy too and he LOVES his tummy rubbed! He has become my dad's little buddy and when he was about this size, he rode around in the bib of Dad's over-alls!

Here is "Doc" being just to cute for words!( click the image for a larger more detailed view)

OMG! You guys are going to L-O-V-E this kit! I finished it at 3 am this morning, I got on such a roll that I didn't want to stop until it was completed!

For a Limited Time the Mega kit will be a special $5.00 plus tax and then go back to $6.00. This kit is jam packed and has 13 papers and 54 ELEMENTS, an entire alpha set and Already in the works on Future Add-ons!

Inspired by my Son Nathan and his little weenie dog " Bob " and my Dad and his Weenie Dog " Doc " , I created this fun kit to highlight pictures of your kids, family, friends and pets with their favorite pet(s)!!

Here is an upclose view of the Some of the Kit.... there is so much I couldn't fit it all in the Display.... lol. Click the image for a larger view.

This kit was a blast to make. Nathan stayed up for a long time last night helping me out. He had the brilliant idea to make the Dog tags in bone shapes and had the idea for the Dog Bowl and Dog house stickers. Think like a kid!! I was going to make them round or diamond shape..... and Nathan said HEY... lets make dog bones! HA HA...

I made the Dog Bone Template, and was kinda skeptical, because I wasn't sure it would work... but it did... My son is a geneous! lol He is continually asking if I will teach him how to do this, and I started him on basic PSP about a year ago... But he is so deep into "spidaring" all over the house, that he rarely sits still long enough to mess around on the comp. What can ya expect out of a 9 year old boy? lol

Anyhoo, on to the Mini Kit Sampler. Yesterday, you got a free Sampler of the Plush Alpha Set in the word Cuddley or Cuddle.

Today, my Freebie, highlight my Mega kit with a few pieces you will have fun doodling with to see if you like it enough to get EVERYTHING, or maybe you just want a couple of pieces to add to your freebie collection! :)

The Mini kit includes:

4 My Dog Spot Papers , 2 Solid 2 Designed
1 Silver Incrested Color Variety Bone Dog Tag ( Colors Vary)
1 Gold incrested Color Variety Bone Dog Tag ( Colors Vary)
1 Bow
1 Set of Stitches
1 Brad
1 Shiney Sticker
1 Spot's Paw metal Art
1 Cuddely Plush " My Dog Spot" Alpha Sampler

Everything was made in 300 ppi - 800 ppi for better qaulity in resizing and high qaulity printing!

If this is your first time of visiting my blog, or downloading my Freebies and Graphics, I kindly request that you read my TOU in full before downloading and use of my designs and kits. You may read them HERE.

Think ya wanna give it a spin?

I hope you enjoy this Mini Kit as much as Nathan and I enjoyed Making it!! :)
I look forward to hearing from you... Feed back is always welcome here! :)
